Section one
Cookie Use
Pet Memories uses a small number of essential technologies to keep the website secure and working correctly. We do not use advertising, marketing, or analytics cookies.
Essential session cookie
Pet Memories uses an essential session cookie named pet_memories_session.
This cookie helps us:
- Protect forms against unauthorized submissions
- Keep administrators and moderators securely signed in
- Authorize private memory editing
- Display submission confirmations and private memory codes
- Prevent excessive or repeated requests
The cookie is temporary and normally expires when you close your browser. It cannot be used by JavaScript to read your login information and is transmitted securely when you visit the website over HTTPS.
Because this cookie is necessary for the website’s security and core functions, some features may not work correctly if it is blocked.
Cloudflare Turnstile
The memory-submission form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to help distinguish genuine visitors from automated spam.
When the security check is displayed, Cloudflare may process technical information about your browser, device, network connection, and interaction with the page. Cloudflare may also use cookies or similar security technologies where necessary to provide this service.
Turnstile is used only for security and spam prevention. Pet Memories does not use it for advertising.
No advertising or analytics cookies
Pet Memories currently does not use:
- Advertising cookies
- Marketing cookies
- Visitor-tracking analytics
- Social-media tracking pixels
- Personalized advertising systems
If this changes in the future, this page will be updated before those technologies are introduced.
Managing cookies
You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Blocking the essential session cookie may prevent sign-in, form submission, private memory editing, and other protected features from working correctly.

Privacy Policy
Pet Memories respects your privacy. This section explains what information we collect, why we need it, and how it is protected.
Information you provide
When you create or edit a memory, you may provide:
- Your pet’s name and type
- Birth and memorial dates
- A memorial story
- A portrait photograph
- Favorite moments photographs and captions
Please only submit photographs and information that you have permission to share. Avoid including private or sensitive information about yourself or other people.
Private memory code
When you create a memory, you receive a private code. The code can be used with the pet’s name to edit the memory or request its removal.
Keep this code somewhere safe. Pet Memories stores a protected version of it for verification but does not publicly display it.
How memories are reviewed
Every new memory begins as private and pending.
An administrator or moderator must approve it before it appears in public searches, memorial cards, or public links.
If you edit an existing memory using the private code, it becomes private again until the changes are reviewed and approved.
Pending, rejected, and archived memories are not publicly displayed.
Public information
After approval, the submitted memorial information becomes public. This may include:
- The pet’s name and type
- Memorial dates
- The memorial story
- Photographs and captions
- A staff note, if one has been added
Public memories may be viewed, shared, copied, or indexed by search engines. Only submit information that you are comfortable making public.
Photograph processing
Uploaded photographs are resized and optimized for the website. Unnecessary image metadata is removed during processing.
Pending photographs are kept private during review. They become publicly available only after the memory is approved.
How we use information
We use submitted information to:
- Create and display approved memorials
- Review new and edited memories
- Process editing and removal requests
- Display birthday candles when an optional birth date is provided
- Prevent spam and unauthorized activity
- Maintain and secure the website
Pet Memories does not sell personal information or use memorial content for targeted advertising.
Cookies and security
Pet Memories uses an essential session cookie for website security, protected forms, staff sign-in, private editing, and submission confirmations.
We also use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect the memory-submission form from automated spam. Cloudflare may process limited information about your browser, device, network connection, and interaction with the security check.
We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies.
Service providers
Information may be processed by services needed to operate and protect the website, including:
- Our website-hosting provider
- Our database and file-storage services
- Cloudflare Turnstile
These services process information only as needed to provide their respective functions.
Removal requests
You can request removal of a memory using the pet’s name and private code.
The memory remains visible until an administrator or moderator reviews the request and archives it. Archived memories are no longer publicly accessible.
An administrator may later restore an archived memory or permanently delete it.
How long information is kept
Memories are kept until they are archived or permanently deleted.
Pending, rejected, and archived memories may be retained for review, security, restoration, and request-handling purposes. Hosting and security logs may also be retained for a limited period.
Your privacy choices
Depending on where you live, you may be entitled to request:
- Access to information concerning you
- Correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion of information
- Restriction of certain processing
- Withdrawal of consent
- A copy of information you provided
Use the Support page if you have a privacy question or need help with a memory.
Children’s privacy
Children should not submit personal information or create memories without the permission and involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

Terms of Service
Welcome to Pet Memories. These Terms of Service explain the rules for using the website and submitting memorial content.
By using Pet Memories, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
About Pet Memories
Pet Memories provides a place where people can create and share memorials for beloved animal companions.
The website may offer features such as:
- Public pet memorials
- Memorial stories and photographs
- Favorite moments
- Birthday candles
- Memorial editing
- Removal requests
- Website support information
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features when necessary to maintain or improve the service.
Who may use the website
You must be legally able to agree to these terms.
Children should only use Pet Memories and submit content with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.
Creating a memory
When you submit a memory, you agree that:
- The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- You have permission to share the submitted text and photographs.
- Your submission does not violate another person’s privacy, copyright, or other rights.
- Your submission does not contain unlawful, abusive, hateful, threatening, deceptive, or harmful material.
- You will not use the service for advertising, spam, fraud, or unrelated content.
Every new memory begins as private and pending. Submission does not guarantee publication.
An administrator or moderator may approve, reject, edit, archive, or remove content when reasonably necessary to enforce these terms or protect the website and its visitors.
Your content
You retain any ownership rights you hold in the stories, photographs, and captions you submit.
By submitting content, you give Pet Memories permission to store, process, resize, optimize, reproduce, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate and promote the memorial on the website.
This permission is:
- Non-exclusive, meaning you may use your content elsewhere.
- Worldwide, because the website may be viewed internationally.
- Royalty-free, meaning no payment is owed for displaying the submitted memorial.
- Limited to operating, maintaining, securing, and presenting Pet Memories.
This permission ends when the content is permanently deleted, except where temporary backups, legal requirements, or previously completed technical processes make immediate removal impractical.
Public memorials
Approved memories are publicly accessible. Public content may be:
- Viewed by anyone
- Shared through the memorial’s share feature
- Copied or linked to by visitors
- Indexed by search engines
- Displayed in social-media previews
Only submit information and photographs that you are comfortable making public.
Pet Memories cannot control copies or links created by other people after content has been published.
Private memory code
When a memory is submitted, a private code is displayed. You are responsible for keeping this code safe.
The private code may be used with the pet’s name to:
- Edit the memory
- Request removal of the memory
Anyone who possesses the correct pet name and private code may be treated as authorized to make these requests. Do not publish or share the code with people you do not trust.
Pet Memories cannot recover or display the original private code after the submission screen has closed.
Editing a memory
A verified memory owner may edit a memory using the pet’s name and private code.
After an owner submits an edit:
- The memory becomes private.
- It is removed from public cards, searches, and direct public access.
- The updated memory must be reviewed and approved again.
Administrators and moderators may also edit memories as part of operating and moderating the website.
Removal requests
A removal request does not immediately delete a memory. The memory may remain public until an administrator or moderator reviews the request and archives it.
Archived memories are removed from public access. An administrator may restore an archived memory or permanently delete it.
We may retain limited records when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or preventing misuse.
Prohibited content and behavior
You may not use Pet Memories to submit or distribute:
- Content you do not have permission to use
- Personal or sensitive information about another person without permission
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or abusive content
- Explicit sexual content
- Graphic violence or animal cruelty
- Fraudulent, misleading, or impersonating content
- Malware, harmful code, or attempts to compromise the website
- Advertising, promotional spam, or repeated automated submissions
- Content unrelated to animal remembrance
- Material that violates applicable law
You may not attempt to bypass security controls, access private memorials, obtain another person’s private code, or interfere with the operation of the website.
Copyright concerns
If you believe content on Pet Memories infringes your copyright or another legal right, use the Support page to provide:
- Identification of the content
- A description of the right you believe has been violated
- The location of the content on the website
- A way for the website operator to respond
- A statement explaining why you believe the use is unauthorized
We may temporarily hide or remove disputed content while reviewing a report.
Website supporters and sponsors
Pet Memories may provide information about voluntarily supporting the website through an external service.
Support or sponsorship is voluntary and does not purchase ownership, control, preferential moderation, or guaranteed website availability.
Payment information is handled by the external payment provider under its own terms and privacy policy. Pet Memories does not process payment-card information merely by linking to that service.
Supporter and linked sponsor names are displayed only when an administrator chooses to publish them. Sponsor links lead to independent third-party websites.
Availability and preservation
We aim to operate Pet Memories with care, but we cannot guarantee that the website will always be available or error-free.
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of photographs, stories, and private memory codes. Pet Memories should not be treated as the only permanent backup of important content.
Website maintenance, hosting problems, security incidents, software errors, account suspension, or circumstances outside our control may affect availability or result in data loss.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the website, private submissions, and staff accounts. However, no website or storage system can guarantee complete security.
You must not attempt to test, bypass, or exploit the website’s security without prior written permission.
External services and links
Pet Memories may use or link to third-party services, including hosting, security, and website-support providers.
Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Pet Memories is not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of independent third-party websites.
Disclaimer
Pet Memories is provided on an “as available” basis.
To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted service, permanent storage, error-free operation, or that every submission will be approved.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or protections that cannot legally be excluded.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website operator is not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from:
- Use or inability to use the website
- Loss of submitted content
- Unauthorized sharing of a private code
- Actions taken by other visitors
- External websites or service providers
- Temporary or permanent service interruption
Where liability cannot legally be excluded, it will be limited only to the extent allowed by applicable law.
Suspension and termination
We may restrict access, reject submissions, archive memories, remove content, or block abusive activity when reasonably necessary to:
- Enforce these terms
- Protect visitors or third parties
- Prevent fraud, spam, or security threats
- Comply with legal obligations
- Protect the operation and reputation of Pet Memories
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the website, its features, or applicable requirements change.
The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the website after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the website operator is established, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
